Market: Uruguay win
Odds:
With a spot in the semi-finals of this year s Copa America up for grabs, Uruguay will meet Peru at the Arena Fonte Nova in Bahia on Saturday night.
Starting with Óscar Tabárez s Uruguay side, while a run of four consecutive defeats may have had some questioning Tabárez s role in charge of La Celeste at the back end of last year, the Blues appear to be getting back to their best. Thanks to Edinson Cavani s late winner against Chile last week, they managed to secure top spot in Group C and they now have their sights firmly set on lifting their first Copa America crown since 2011. Along with boasting an attacking line-up glittering with talent, it will undoubtedly be their continued defensive resolve most impressing Tabárez. Recording five clean sheets in their last six outings, Uruguay have also conceded just a pair of goals in over 550 minutes of action.
As for a struggling Peru outfit, while La Blanquirroja may have managed to just sneak through to the knockout stage of this year s Copa America as one of the best third-place finishers, Ricardo Gareca s men have continued to struggle with their consistency. Completely outplayed and dominated by Brazil in their 5-0 hammering last weekend, a 3-1 victory over fellow strugglers Bolivia is their only victory so far in the tournament. Managing to pick up just four victories in their 15 post-World Cup outings, fans around the Estadio Nacional will be growing more concerned by Peru s form in the final third. Aside from their routine victory over Bolivia earlier in the month, they have failed to find the net in their other three appearances.
Bet: Uruguay 4/6 to beat Peru in Saturday s Copa America quarter-final
