Manchester City s Leroy Sane has been long linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Manager Pep Guardiola revealed earlier that the winger was close to signing a new deal but he changed his mind at the eleventh hour. Now, according to , there is increasing fear in the Etihad dressing room that Sane s head has been completely turned by the prospect of returning to Germany, which he left when he joined City from Schalke 04 in 2016 for a total of £42 million.
Apparently, City demand £137 million to part ways with the 23-year-old who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury he suffered in the first game of the season. He s expected back in the team some time in February or March, and will likely have a role to play in the final stretch of the season.
Bayern s interest hasn t been cooled by the injury, and the Bundesliga champions are hopeful of snatching Sane for a much lower price in the summer, when he will have entered the final 12 months of his current contract.
City are already considering potential replacements. Real Sociedad s Mikel Oyarzabal one of them, with City director of football Txiki Begiristein closely related to the Basque club.
