Tuchel feels Chelsea are a ´perfect fit´ after disappointment of PSG sack

Thomas Tuchel feels Chelsea have been a perfect fit since his first day at the club after some early misgivings about his length of contract.

Having been sacked in December 2020 by Paris Saint-Germain, Tuchel was appointed Frank Lampard s replacement at Stamford Bridge in January on an 18-month contract, suggesting there were some concerns about his long-term suitability to the job.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has proved a shrewd choice for the Blues, though. Having won the Champions League in May, Tuchel has guided his side to a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League in 2021-22, with eight wins from 10 games.

Billion-pound breakthrough should come as no surprise – Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino said football’s stakeholders should not be hypocritical in their judgement of Chelsea after the club’s spending surpassed £1billion under the ownership of Todd Boehly.

The £40million signing of Cole Palmer from Manchester City on Friday pushed total outlay during the last 16 months into 10 figures, with more than £400m having been spent on 12 players in the summer window alone.

That has in part been offset by player sales for significant fees earlier in the window with 14 first-team departures since the end of the last season, most notably midfielders Kai Havertz and Mason Mount who left for a combined £120m.

Herrera tearfully opens up on ´painful´ Man Utd exit after contract snub

Ander Herrera found his exit from Manchester United an emotionally taxing departure, calling it painful to leave the Premier League club.

The Spaniard, who spent five years at Old Trafford before moving on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, is currently on a season-long loan with Athletic Club.

During his time with United, Herrera helped the club to FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League honours, and was named their Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season.

Having departed at the close of his contract, it was assumed the Red Devils had been happy to let him go, and Herrera has now revealed the lack of a suitable offer throughout his final few seasons was tough to take.

To leave, it was difficult because six months before, I was expecting that of…

Morata fully focused on Euro 2016 as transfer talk intensifies

Alvaro Morata is paying no attention to his future at club level as he tries to cement a spot in Spain s side ahead of Euro 2016.

Real Madrid are expected to exercise a buy-back clause in Morata s Juventus contract, but the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with a subsequent swoop.

Morata scored twice on Wednesday as Spain thrashed South Korea 6-1 in Salzburg, having hinted at his desire to make it into the long-term plans at the Santiago Bernabeu pre-match.

I said what player would not want to play in Madrid, but I have seen other things I have not said, Morata told Cuatro.

I m focused on the Euros and what happens, happens.
